Newly Natural must have tools!

Things That  A Newly Natural Diva Need To Have!!

Congrats on your BC! First of all, a lot of people kind of have “after shocks” following the BC. In other words,  your hair can sometimes act a little off. A lot of people experience dryness, etc. Well here are a few products to get you off on a good start in your natural hair journey.

The Wide Tooth Comb
Whenever your hair is wet, or your shampooing or conditioning your hair you must reach for your wide tooth comb. The wide tooth comb will make detangling easier and should be used when styling your hair.

A Boar Bristle Brush is also important for any natural to have.  This brush is great for smoothing edges and is soft enough where it won’t cause breakage or pull any hair.
A Spray Bottle

This might not seem like a big deal but it is. I mist my hair with water at least once a day. The spray bottle can be a handy tool used to spritz your hair with needed water or mixed oils to hydrate it.Invest in a spray bottle!!!
Shampoo and Conditioner

The  most important thing to remember is your shampoo should be sulfate-free. Many naturals complain of dry hair, and often are shampoo is the culprit.  Some recommendations include: Shea Moisture  retention shampoo ,Giovanni Triple Treat Shampoo,  Giovanni ,and Kinky Curly (come clean)
For co-washing, Suave Tropical Coconut,Giovanni 50:50 and Herbal Essences Hello Hydration are  pretty good for co-washes and very cheap in price..For a leave-in-conditioner , Kinky Curly Knot Today ,Aussie Hair Insurance, and Cantu  shea butter leave in.

                                                                         Hair Oil

Your hair needs oil, just like a engine in a car. Please don’t confuse hair oil with hair grease. Grease  clogs up the pores on your scalp and it can stop and prevent your hair from growing. The following is a list of oils to get you started.Jojoba Oil(great for scalp),Olive Oil(great for oil rinsing and sealing),Grapeseed Oil (very light ,great for sealing ends) Castor Oil(great for growth ) and Coconut Oil(great for scalp and sealing)
A Silk Bonnet or Scarf
Before you go to bed, you must, must, must put a silk scarf or bonnet on your head to protect your hair from the potential split ends that can occur from laying on a pillow.
Patience

The last thing you need is patience, patience and patience..You will want your hair to grow super fast.It takes time it will not happen over night.Keep a hair journey so when you look back you can see the progress in your hair growth.
Happy Hair Journey!
